First Responders is a voluntary service operating mainly in rural and isolated areas. They provide support to people experiencing medical emergency before the ambulance arrives.
Paul Sargent, from the Staffs Solutions Group, delivered a five week course for young people at The Hub.
The young people were instructed in emergency life saving skills, such as the recovery position, CPR, use of an external automatic defibrillator, taking blood pressure and bandaging. Certificates were awarded to the young people on completion of the course.
Adult and Community Learning, part of Stoke on Trent City Council, has delivered two Emergency First Aid sessions for adults.
