During school holidays, young people from LeaderLab take part in a range of activities, sometimes at The Hub, but on other occasions at a local place of interest.
One visit was to Middleport Pottery to learn about the history of the pottery, and to experience making a pot from a lump of clay.
After a short introduction to Middleport, the young people met master potter Jon French, who threw a tiny vase on the Potter’s wheel. The young people tried their hand at the apparently simple task, which Jon made look so easy, but the reality was quite different!
Skilful instruction finally helped each of the young people to produce a vase. The vases were fired and then returned to The Hub to be painted.
